Synopsis
An abandoned box on the stage of the show opens and from inside all the characters emerge. The story of the “still nameless” Great Kingdom s begins. Sparse Beard, the king of this Kingdom, wishes at all costs to go down in history and be able to give his Kingdom a name. The only way a Kingdom can be recognised and go down in history is by completing 100 pages in the Great Kingdom Record Book. This is a journal that must be filled with all Kingdom’s happenings. As it grows, everything is recorded. Until one day, after a fire, the book is destroyed and the citizens have to start their lives over from scratch. However, times are different and now the current Age is the Age of Technology. The play is repeated, but completely contextualised in the chaos of the digital age. Again, the Realm grows and fills with memories and records and registries until it collapses again.
After all, what can save the memory of a Kingdom?

Reviews
"What struck me the most in ‘It Was an Era' was the theme and the way it’s approached because it didn't seem like something "made for children". It was the boldness, the absence of fear of how this piece would turn out. The Respect for the child: respect in language, respect in the text and respect in instigating the kids intelligence and imagination. They didn’t over explain everything! There’s respect for the child, to his thinking, and to his intelligence".
Tatiana Rehder (Art educator and Director of Group Arte Simples of Theatre)
"I've seen the play countless times. It works for children, it works for adults, it works for the elderly, it works for different social classes and repertoires. ‘It Was an Era' is a work that makes me feel not just a spectator, but a participant in it. I feel like a narrator spectator, I feel myself a builder and experimenter. It is a complete work with strong transmedia appeal".
João Schnorr (Filmmaker and Producer)
"The strength of ‘It Was an Era' lies in the intelligence of dialoguing with contemporary children, who are interested in technology and bring this tool as an attraction to the theatre. It is a show that has everything to do with the moment we are living in, everything to do with theatre, with the digital. It's a courageous show, which comes from a group that experiments without fear of making mistakes".
Fausto Viana (Doctor of Arts and Researcher in Costume Designer)
